Arch Hades is an interdisciplinary artist and poet. Rooted in existential philosophy, Romantic literature, and Surrealism, Hades examines the human condition through questions of mortality, identity, memory, and the structures of individual and collective experience. Across painting, sculpture, moving image, sound, and performance she moves from intimate expressions of personal experience to larger explorations into political power, social behaviour, and the construction of belief.
Her solo exhibitions include We Are All Just Passing Through (2025) in London, and Return | Ritorno (2026) at the Scoletta Battioro e Tiraoro di Venezia, presented by Erarta Foundation. The centrepiece of the latter is Return (2025), a 22-panel triptych spanning 13 metres, depicting 63 figures in a monumental meditation on life, death, and humanity’s ultimate return to non-existence. The exhibition is accompanied by a monograph published by Skira Rizzoli, with an introduction by Rebecca Anne Proctor. Hades’ institutional presentations include Palazzo Strozzi, Florence, and Moco Museum, Amsterdam. She is represented by Licht Feld Gallery, Basel, with whom her work has been presented at ZONAMACO, Mexico City; Art Miami; and LA Art Show, Los Angeles. Forthcoming presentations include Iconography (2027) at Art SG, Singapore. Hades’ work is held in private collections internationally, including the RFC Art Collection, Miami.
Hades’ performances have been presented internationally, including as part of the inauguration of the Italian National Pavilion at Biennale Architettura 2025 in Venice; at Ritratti di Poesia poetry festival in Rome; and at re:VERSE poetry symposium in London. Most recently, the verse play Happening (2026) premiered at Stone Nest Theatre in London, written and performed by Hades. Drawing on the wartime propaganda broadcasts of Sefton Delmer, Happening considers the mechanisms of political persuasion and their relationship to contemporary digital communication. Hades’ forthcoming exhibition of the same name at No.9 Cork Street in London extends these concerns through moving image and painting, examining authoritarianism, propaganda, and the manipulation of collective perception.
Hades is the author of seven volumes of poetry and essays. Her literary practice is informed by her longstanding engagement with philosophical thought and the traditions of lyrical poetry. Hades is an established voice in literary and cultural discourse, with speaking engagements at leading international festivals, cultural forums, and academic institutions, including UCL, the University of Oxford, and the University of Cambridge. Her writing has also been published in il manifesto. She lives and works in London.
